What We Do

Six programme areas through which we deliver education, support, and poverty relief in Egypt.

Our Programme Areas

As classified on the UK Charity Commission register for charity no. 1150741.

1. Makes Grants to Individuals

We provide direct, targeted financial assistance to individuals facing hardship — including learners unable to afford school fees or learning materials, families in temporary crisis, and older people or people with disabilities without adequate support.

Every grant is considered on a case-by-case basis by the trustees against clear eligibility criteria, documented in our records, and paid directly to the beneficiary or to a third party (such as a school) on their behalf. This keeps our giving transparent, accountable, and focused on outcomes.

2. Supporting Education

Education is our primary charitable object, and it runs through everything we do. We support access to learning at every stage — from primary schooling for children who would otherwise be excluded, through vocational training for young adults, to literacy and skills programmes for older learners.

In practice, our education support may take the form of school-fee sponsorships, provision of books and learning materials, support for after-school programmes, or grants to local education initiatives that align with our mission and can demonstrate public benefit.

3. Provides Human Resources

The people we bring to our programmes matter as much as the funding. We deploy volunteers, teachers, mentors, and support workers — either directly or through partner organisations — to provide teaching, mentoring, care, and capacity-building where it is most needed.

All volunteers and staff working with children or vulnerable adults operate under appropriate safeguarding policies, and we work with trusted local partners in Egypt to ensure our human-resource contribution is welcomed, well managed, and effective.

4. Provides Buildings / Facilities / Open Space

Meaningful work requires somewhere to do it. We provide or support access to the physical infrastructure that underpins education and community welfare — classrooms, training rooms, community halls, and safe open spaces in which children can learn and play.

Where direct ownership is not appropriate, we work with local partners to refurbish, equip, or subsidise the use of existing premises so that a reliable home exists for the services we support.

5. Provides Vital Services

For many of the people we serve, basic welfare must be addressed before education or longer-term development becomes possible. We deliver or fund essential services that meet immediate needs — including basic welfare support, access to food and clean water, and help for those with acute medical, mobility, or care needs.

Vital services are not an end in themselves. They are the floor on which opportunity, dignity, and independence are built.

6. Provides Advocacy / Advice / Information

Many beneficiaries face barriers not only of money but of information — about their rights, the public services available to them, and the educational pathways open to their children. We provide practical advocacy, advice, and information, either directly or through partner organisations, so that people can make informed decisions and access the support to which they are entitled.

This includes signposting to government services, guidance for families navigating school enrolment, and general information about rights and entitlements.

How We Work

Principles that guide every programme and grant.

🎯

Needs-Led

Every programme starts from an identified need in the communities we serve — not from what we would prefer to offer.

🔎

Accountable

Grants and expenditure are approved by the trustees, documented, and reported to the Charity Commission.

🤝

Partnership-Based

We work with trusted local partners in Egypt who understand the context better than any remote organisation can.

🛡️

Safeguarding First

The safety and dignity of children and vulnerable adults is non-negotiable in every activity we support.
